As what I refer to as a "dormant Catholic," I related to this SOOOOO much!! I died laughing (probably to hell and back) at your description of going to confession before first communion...that is EXACTLY how it is in my memory as well. I remember coming up with things like, I fought with my brother, I stole cookies out of the cookie jar...too much. Last time I set foot in the Catholic Church was the day my parents forced me to make my confirmation in high school. I was done after that. And I can still to this day recite a mass. :-P
