Dear KiKi:

I love writing. And I’ve developed my habit so well that I feel horribly guilty if I take a day off. I feel like I’ve lost so much time not producing anything. It’s like I’m obsessed. All I can think about when I’m out is how much time I’m losing out on. On the other hand, I’ve been working so much on my writing, plus my job, that I really could use a break. Help?

Signed,

CrazyAss Christine

Yo CrazyAss:

What you speak of my child, is classic writer’s neurotic-ass anxiety (WNA), as referenced in the DSM-5. Symptoms of WNA include:

  • Fatigue
  • Stress
  • Inability to relax
  • Obsession with work production
  • Excessive introverted-ness
  • Disdain for baloney sandwiches
  • Believing others “just don’t understand”

Residential treatment and rehab for WNA is recommended for the lasting management of symptoms from writer’s neurotic-ass anxiety. Another option is at-home…
