No. I worry I wasn't clear enough in my piece because so much can be said about it. Many of my memoirs are humorous as well. I think it probably depends on the story in your life you're telling. Some memories are just really funny and should be told that way. And you are telling them because you're fond of those memories. Perhaps "poignant" comes in because of the looking back on a memory with fondness, not so much sadness. I'm not sure poignant is meant so literally. I know I often use words in a manner that's not so literal. I probably should as I'm a writer, but I personally can be very figurative and whimsical in my manner of speaking. Maybe others are the same. But yes, GREAT point and question.
