Oh my gosh--Trisha--when I saw the title of this piece, I couldn't wait to dive in. I've experienced this a few times. Luckily, it's been a few years now since it last happened. The first time was the most frightening. It was exactly as you described it at the beginning. I could even feel the fur of my cats as they walked around me. I could hear the tv.
