I can see myself and my best friend Anna Louise, out on the grassy expanse of the former Angel Guardian Orphanage grounds with our beach towels, Walkmen, and Hawaiian Tropic oil baking under the sun for hours. She brought her small radio tuned to B-96 and we baked to the tunes of Chicago (Hard to Say I’m Sorry), Toto (Africa), and The Cars (Who’s Gonna Drive You Home Tonight). Kind of melancholy music now that I think about it.
